Abel A. Covarrubias Abel A. Covarrubias is a Salinas local, an Alisal High School and Hartnell Alumni. After graduating from Hartnell College in 2000, with an associate’s degree in Physics, he went on to San Jose State University to pursue a B.S. in Civil Engineering. During his college years, he worked his summers and winter breaks at Graniterock Company’s Research and Technical Services Department (RTS) which led to full-time employment after his graduation from San Jose State in 2003. Abel is now the Project/Energy Manager at Graniterock’s Engineering Department where he is responsible for providing engineering and project management services to all divisions of the company. The majority of his work is involved in short and long range Mine Planning and developing was to improve energy efficiency throughout the company.
