Christopher Zepeda
(Head Coach Cross Country)

Coach Zepeda returns for his 8th year with the Panthers. Within the first seven years, Coach Zepeda has guided the men's cross country team to five Coast Conference men's titles and a Norcal championship. In three out of the six years, Hartnell has produced the Norcal individual champion. In 2009, Daniel Tapia made school history becoming the school's first-ever individual state champion.

Zepeda competed at the junior college level and served as team captain while at Cuesta College. He also competed as a member of the Chico State cross country and track & field team. Coach Zepeda earned his B.S. in Exercise Physiology from CSU, Chico and completed his M.A. in Kinesiology from Chico State in 2007. Coach Zepeda is Level I and Level II certified by USA Track & Field Association. In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Zepeda was recently appointed the full-time Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach in August 2013. He is happily married to Kim Kouka Zepeda.



Alejandro Alcaraz
(Assistant Coach)

Alejandro joins the Panthers for his third season as an assistant coach. His responsibilities include daily practice supervision, mentoring, and sports information. Alejandro attended Alisal High School but did not join the Panthers as an athlete until Fall of 2008. Alejandro was a two-time All-Coast Conference competitor in cross country as well as a Northern California Championship qualifier in the 10,000 meters. Alejandro is recently completed his degree at CSU Monterey Bay and exploring graduate study options while helping the Panthers this fall.



Eddie Guzman
(Volunteer Assistant Coach)

Eddie joins the coaching staff after two very successful years as a student-athlete at Hartnell College. Eddie was a two-time All-Coast Conference runner and in 2012 earned All-Northern California honors. Both years, the men's cross country teams were victorious at the Coast Conference Championships. In track, Eddie qualified the Northern California Championship in the 1500 meters and 5000 meters. He has lifetime bests of 4:03 for 1500 meters and 15:53 for 5000 meters. Eddie is currently completing his degree requirements and exploring transfer options for next year.




Eric Palmer
(Volunteer Assistant)

Eric is one of the most successful local road racers in Monterey County but does have a close tie to the Panthers. Eric competed in the spring 2008 in track running the 3k steeplechase, 5k, and 10k. He was won numerous races in the area ranging from the PG Lighthouse 5k to the Together With Love 5k. Eric holds the course record for the Big Sur Mud Run and San Lorenzo River Half Marathon. Eric was an all-conference runner for CSU Monterey Bay when the program was in its infancy. He currently holds personal bests of 15:47 for 5000, 32:16 at Wharf to Wharf, 27:01 for 8k cross country, and 1:17 for half marathon. Eric currently works as the Media Coordinator for the City of Monterey.



Kim Kouka
(Team Nurse/Volunteer Assistant Coach)


Coach Kouka is returning for her fifth year of volunteer service to the Panthers. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Coach Kim remains physically active. She is Registered Nurse at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula and will provide medical attention to the Panthers during competition.



Victoria Carranza
(Volunteer Assistant Coach)

Coach Vicky is entering her first season assisting the Panthers. A two-year participant in cross country, Vicky enjoyed some her best years of running while being a Panther. Last spring, Vicky made the Norcal Finals in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Enthusiastic to help the team to continue to succeed, Vicky's energy and postivity will be helpful to the team. Coach Vicky is currently completing her A.A. requirements at Hartnell College and exploring her four year college/univeristy options.



Stephanie Bouquet

(Volunteer Assistant Coach)


Coach Stephanie is a very accomplished local runner and registered Dietician. She operates her own business SB Nutrition located in Salinas. This will be Coach Stephanie's first season assisting the Panthers.
