5030 TB Tests, Physical Examinations
Pursuant to Education Code Section 87408, newly hired academic employees
shall have on file a medical certificate indicating freedom from TB (tuberculosis). Further, both academic and classified employees,
when hired by the District, must show they have been examined within
the past 60 days to determine that they are free from active tuberculosis.
All employees shall be required to undergo an examination within four
years from employment to determine if they are free from tuberculosis.
Thereafter, employees who are found to be skin test negative shall
undergo a similar examination at least once each four years.
The Governing Board will strictly enforce the provisions of Section
88021 authorizing the Board to require physical examinations of employees.
Excepted from the requirement of TB testing are classified employees
hired for less than an academic year whose duties do not require frequent
or prolonged contact with students.
