Close relatives of current Hartnell College employees are eligible
for employment with the College. Close relatives of current employees,
however, may not be employed in or assigned or promoted to any position
which is in the direct line of supervision, as shown by the College's
organization chart, of the closely related employee. Additionally,
no employee may participate in any way in any decision regarding any
personnel matter which may directly affect the selection, appointment,
retention, tenure, compensation, promotion, termination, or other
employment status or interest of a close relative, unless the decision
generally affects all members of the close relative's collective bargaining
unit. For co-employees who become closely related while already employed
with the College, the College shall make reasonable efforts to accommodate
the employees through assignment to positions consistent with this policy.
For purposes of the policy, "close relative" and "closely related" refer to
the following relations: husband, wife, son, daughter, sister, brother,
parent, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law,
son-in-law, or any person living in the immediate household of the employee
on a regular basis.
