Welcome to the Homepage for Jim Riley
Hi! I'm a math instructor at Hartnell. I was the coordinator of the Math Lab until this semester (Spring 2010). This semester I'm teaching some of the same classes that used to be offered in the Math Lab. They're different now (they're no longer self-paced, and they're partly online). You can learn more about those classes here.

Educational Background
BA, Math, UC San Diego.

MS, Math, San Jose State.

After I got my master's, I did two more years of graduate work in math at the University of Oregon.

Teaching Experience
Before coming to Hartnell, I taught math for two years at San Jose State and two years at the University of Oregon. I was the Math Lab coordinator at Hartnell from Fall 2004 through Fall 2009, and have also taught Geometry (Math 122), Precalculus (Math 25), and Statistics (Math 13) at Hartnell.

Hobbies and Interests
I do lots of bicycling and running. I used to cycle competitively, and raced in the original Red Zinger Classic in Colorado back in 1975. I've also run several marathons.

My other hobby is playing classical piano. I've performed several times at Hartnell and hope to do more of that in the future.
