This Financial Accounting course is intended to be the first accounting course of a two semester (also Managerial Accounting) Business Transfer Program at both two and four year colleges. It is the first of a two semester program for Business Majors. This class introduces the preparation, understanding and uses of periodic financial statements by profit-motivated business enterprises in reporting to investors and others outside of the business, as well as personal uses by individuals and managers. The class will introduce and work with the corporate business structure, using both the service and merchandising functions of this structure. Successful completion of this class will make the student knowledgeable of many business structures. The second semester, Managerial Accounting, will expand this knowledge to a third business environment of manufacturing and costing.
