Dr. Willard Clark Lewallen has been the president of West Hills College in Coalinga, California, since 2007. Between 1999 and 2007, he was the vice president of student services at Victor Valley College, and before that he was a faculty member and dean at Antelope Valley College. He began his academic employment as a counselor and academic advisor at Purdue University. Additionally, he has taught as an adjunct professor at Chapman University and University of La Verne since 1992.
Dr. Lewallen is a native Californian and a product of the California public education system. He earned a B.S. degree cum laude in physical education at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. He was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship at Purdue University where he completed two master's degrees, one in exercise science and one in counseling/personnel services. He completed a Ph. D. in education at UCLA.
Dr. Lewallen serves as president of the Coalinga Rotary Club, chair of the Coalinga Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, president of the Association of California Community College Administrators, and chair of the board of presidents for the USA Community College Consortium, a consortium of colleges with comprehensive programs for international students. He is on the board of the West Hills Community College Foundation.
