On Saturday, February 21, Hartnell College will hold a workshop for current and potential college students and their families who are interested in applying for financial aid. High school seniors interested in enrolling at any college are encouraged to attend.
This Cash for College Workshop will help students and parents complete all the forms that are required to apply for federal and state financial aid, including the 2009-10 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form, which is the first step in applying for nearly any kind of financial aid.
Financial aid staff will be available for one-on-one assistance in both English and Spanish, beginning at 10 a.m. in the dining room commons on the college’s main campus at 411 Central Avenue in Salinas. The event ends at 2 p.m.
Participants should bring their 2008 tax return information, W-2’s, or income statements; photo identification, social security or alien registration number., and records of untaxed benefits. Previous year’s tax information may be used to get started on the forms, though updated information will need to be substituted later.
Workshop participants who submit their completed FAFSA forms and CalGrant applications before the CalGrant deadline of March 2 will be entered in a drawing for an additional $1,000 scholarship.
