Black History Month at Hartnell College Presents "Apollo Night"

Come to Hartnell College on Friday, February 28, for a special show which is part of Black History Month. "Keeping It Real Apollo Night" is sponsored by Mind Over Matter Entertainment and the United Black Student Association (UBSA) at Hartnell College and co-sponsored by KDON 102.5 FM.

"TYM of Seaside will open the show," said Sharolyn Robinson, Associated Student Body president and treasurer of the UBSA at Hartnell College. "There will be performances by local artists; Omar A.K.A. Talent, Yan Matrix and D.J. E-Z Cutt. Then the competition will begin."

There will be two prize categories. "First will be a music/instrumentals-record a three song demo plus and the prize is $100 cash," Robinson explained. "The second category is non-musical competition and the winner will receive $500 cash. This includes dance and other acts.

The event takes place on the Hartnell College Western Stage Theater, the doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. "Tickets for Apollo Night cost $10 for students, $12 for non-students if purchased in advance and $15 at the door," Robinson said.
