Hartnell College to Present Continental Extravaganza

February 23rd, 2005

The Continental Extravaganza — an evening of European folk, pop and classical music, plus a gourmet dinner and dancing — will be held Friday, March 11, at Hartnell College.

The event, sponsored by the Hartnell College Foundation and open to the public, will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Steinbeck Hall of the College Center.

Hartnell’s performing musical ensembles will present a wide range of European music, including highlights from “Carmen,” the film music of the Italian composer Nino Rota, and English folk songs, according to Carl Christensen, Hartnell music instructor.

“More than 100 performers from the college’s band, orchestra, chorus and jazz ensemble will take part in the event,”he said.

The dinner menu will include a choice between German Sauerbraten or Italian Eggplant Parmesan (vegetarian).

Proceeds will benefit Hartnell’s instrumental and choral music programs.

Tickets, which are $25 per person, will not be sold at the door. To purchase tickets, call (831) 770-6160.
