San Jose State University will present information on how to obtain a teaching credential at Hartnell College on Friday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college's board room.
"Everyone is welcome to attend," said Hartnell College Counselor Maria Castillo. She said there would be four presentations.
The first, at 10 a.m., will be a program on Child Development. "This program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. This will explain how to get a multi-subject teaching credential in four and a half years or in only two and a half years if you are transferring from Hartnell. It will be aimed at teaching youngsters in first to sixth grades," Castillo said.
At 11 a.m. the second presentation will be "Special Education, Pathways To Becoming a Special Education Teacher".
At noon, "Preparing For the Liberal Studies Program" will talk about the program for those who want to prepare for teaching first through eighth grade youngsters.
"Our final presentation is 'Preparing To Teach: What You Can Do Now To Prepare To Be a Teacher'," Castillo concluded.
There is no charge for the presentations but there is a one-dollar parking fee (four quarters) that may be purchased in the machines in the parking lots.
