Hartnell College hosts accreditation team site visit

As part of the normal six-year accreditation process by the Accrediting Commission of Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Hartnell College will host a site visit by an accreditation team from March 19 through March 22, 2007. The team comprises community college professionals from around the state, chaired by Dr. Christopher McCarthy, President/Superintendent of Napa Valley College.

Hartnell College is fully accredited by WASC, having been granted a six-year accreditation in 2001. The site visit is one part of the accreditation process for evaluating and assuring the quality of education used by American education institutions. The process also includes a detailed self-study conducted by the college. The self-study report is online at http://www.hartnell.edu/accreditation.

The team will visit the King City Center and the health professions sites on March 19. During the teamís time on the main campus in Salinas, it will hold two open meetings, one from 1-2 p.m. on March 20 in Steinbeck Hall, and one from 4-5 p.m. on March 21 in room 125 of the Performing Arts Facility. The public is invited to these meetings.
