News Media Invited to View Hartnell Students Helping Elementary School
Children Learn About Science

Why and What:
For the second year in a row, Hartnell science students, through the Science
Outreach Project, are assisting students at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy
School with learning about physical science. Students of Hartnell physics
instructor Jesse Cude make the presentations on a variety of science topics. The
program is supported by a $100,000 government grant. This year more about 210
4th and 5th graders at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy School are involved
in the program. On March 29, the hands-on program will center around
magnetism in the science lab of 4th grade instructor Teresa Sherpinski.
The program is a win-win situation for both Hartnell and King students. Hartnell students are able to share what they learn at Hartnell and help others, and King students learn more about math and science.
