The Hartnell College Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team will compete at the SIFE USA Regional Competition on April 7, in Hollywood, CA. The event is one of 17 regional competitions being held across the United States in March and April.
Hartnell’s SIFE team has reached out to the community in many ways this year, bringing together experts in business matters with community members interested to learn more about business, finances, career development, and access to credit. One of its larger projects was the SIFE Business Exposition, held on November 28, 2007, which included seminars that ranged from How to Read Your Credit Score to Interview Skills, with presentations given in both English and Spanish.
SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1,400 college and university campuses in 48 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that teach market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills, and business ethics. Their projects are judged at competition on creativity, innovation, and effectiveness.
Last year’s SIFE team won the regional competition.
