Hartnell College Music and Dance Departments to Present Spring Concerts

The music and dance departments of Hartnell College will present a variety of concerts in April and May. No tickets are required, but donations will be accepted. Here's the lineup:


"Brass Fest 2004" - York Brass Ensemble, Monterey Trombones, Hartnell College Wind Ensemble, Hart Smith (trombonist); chamber music by small and large brass ensembles; Sunday, April 25, 7 p.m., Recital Hall (Performing Arts Building 125).

"A Brass and Woodwind Festival" - Hartnell College Symphonic Band (Carl Christensen, director) and Pacific Brass, a "British-style" brass band (Gonzalo Viales, director); Tuesday, April 27, 7:30 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building).

"Music Through Time: A Choral Journey" - Hartnell College Choir and Chamber Singers (Sandy Rudo, director); songs from the Renaissance to present day and music from the roaring 20s to today, plus "The Last Words of David" by Randall Thompson with the Hartnell Symphonic Band; Tuesday, May 11, 7:30 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building); and Wednesday, May 12, 10:30 a.m. (children's concert), Main Stage (Performing Arts Building);

"Monday Night at the Movies" - Hartnell College dancers and choreographers with guest artists (Megan Morais, director); modern, jazz, hip hop; Monday, May 17, and Tuesday, May 18, 7 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building).

"Dvorak Centennial Concert" - Hartnell College Symphony Orchestra (Carl Christensen, director); special gala performance of Dvorak's 8th Symphony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death; Thursday, May 20, 7:30 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building).

"American Song" - Hartnell College Chorale (Lucik Aprahamian, director), soaring choral music by America's greatest composers; Monday, May 24, 8 p.m., Recital Hall (Performing Arts Building 125).

"Marching Along!" - Hartnell College Symphonic Band (Carl Christensen, director); marches of all styles plus traditional favorites for symphonic bands; Tuesday, May 25, 7:30 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building).

"Spring Jazz" - Hartnell College Jazz and Wind Ensembles (Carl Christensen, director); traditional jazz, blues, pop and rock; Friday, May 28, 7:30 p.m., Main Stage (Performing Arts Building).


Parking on campus requires a parking permit ($1-four quarters) from the red dispensers in parking lots.
