Hartnell College Presents a Funny Look at Serious Survival

April 30th, 2007

Sometimes humor is the best way to tell a serious story. That is the premise behind "Side by Side: A Journey With Depression," to be presented at Hartnell College on Wednesday, May 16, with shows at noon and at 6 p.m. on the Main Stage of the Performing Arts Center, 411 Central Avenue in Salinas.

"Side by Side" is Brian Wetzelís autobiographical one-man, two-act, theatrical show, chronicling how his professional stand-up comedy career and personal life were absorbed by his struggle with clinical depression and subsequent addiction. Mr. Wetzel brings his sense of humor and experiences together to takes his audience on a journey of laughter, painful truth, and finally, hope.

Mr. Wetzel debuted the show in September of 2004 in Northern California and has been touring the West Coast with it since. The show is directed by Lizann Bassham.

Hartnellís performances are sponsored by Hartnell College Student Senate and Crisis Counseling Services. Refreshments will be served.
