Hartnell College Names Finalists for Superintendent/President

May 6th, 2008

On Tuesday night at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Hartnell College Board of Trustees, the finalists for the position of president/superintendent of Hartnell College were announced.

The final candidates are:

Dr. Cecilia Cervantes, president of the College of Alameda in Alameda, California;

Dr.  Phoebe K. Helm, interim superintendent/president of Hartnell Community College District, Salinas, California; and

Dr.  Santos Martinez, Jr., vice-president for student services at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas.

Each of the finalists will visit the Hartnell College main campus for one day next week, May 12 through 14, to participate in a series of open meetings hosted by the various college constituents. All meetings are open to the public.

A Community and Campus Forum will be held at 4:30 p.m. each day for the entire community. The public will be invited to provide comments from these meetings to the Board, who will interview each candidate at the end of each day during a closed session meeting.

The locations of the meetings, which will be determined soon, and further information about the search process may be found on the college’s website at http://www.hartnell.edu/president/search/
