Western Food Safety Summit at Hartnell College

The Ag Business and Technology Institute at Hartnell College presents the annual Western Food Safety Summit on May 10 -11 from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. in Steinbeck Hall, at the Hartnell Main Campus.

This year's summit will cover key topics relevant to food safety practices including the most current research and technology, the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, ag waiver, sustainability, soil amendments, fertilizers, and equipment sanitation.

During a Poster Session covering hot topics in current food safety research, attendees will have a unique opportunity to interact with representatives from the following organizations: University of California Cooperative Extension; Center for Food Safety of the Department of Food Science & Technology at the University of Georgia; Western Center for Food Safety, University of California; and Clemson University in South Carolina.

The summit will end with a Discussion Panel with representatives from: Western Center for Food Safety at University of California, Davis; Grower-Shipper Association of Central California, Salinas; United Fresh Produce Association, Salinas; and California Leafy Green Marketing Agreement, Sacramento.
