The Hartnell College Nursing Program will hold its annual pinning ceremony on Friday, May 31, at 3:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the Main Campus at 411 Central Avenue in Salinas.
The Nursing Program, now in its 59th year, will be graduating 46 nursing professionals this year, 30 in the registered nursing program and 16 vocational nurses.
"Pinning" is an important milestone for a nurse. Originating from a tradition that dates back a thousand years and has carried on throughout history, the pinning ceremony is a rite of passage in which the nursing faculty embrace the new graduates into the profession. For information on the traditions of the nursing pinning ceremony, please see an article by Denise Baird '11, at http://www.hartnell.edu/news/nursing.html.
