If you are a swimmer who would like to get some concentrated lap time in the pool before your summer vacation, the Hartnell College Pathways Program has the course for you.
Beginning on Monday, June 4, three different lap swim options are available to fit into your schedule throughout the summer. All sessions occur conveniently during the lunch hour, from noon to 1:15 p.m., in Hartnellís beautiful outdoor pool.
Session 1 runs weekdays, June 4-15, for $25. Session 2 runs Wednesdays and Fridays from June 18 through July 27, for $30. Session 3 runs weekdays, July 30-August 24, for $38.
The lap program is designed to give swimmers an opportunity for open lap swim on a regular basis with life guard supervision. Although it is not designed to be an instructional program, help in setting up workouts will be available if desired.
Swimmers must be able to pass an entry swim test, including swimming 100 yards freestyle without stopping; treading water for one minute; and floating on their back for one minute. There is no age limit and all members of the community are welcome.
You may register online at www.hartnell.edu/pathways/schedules/recreation.html or in person at the Workforce & Community Development Office, 411 Central Avenue in Salinas. The office is in the College Center.
