Hartnell College Student Named to
Two Leadership Positions on Campus
June 8th, 2004
Christopher Luna of Salinas, a 23-year-old economics major at Hartnell College, has been elected to two leadership positions on campus.
He was elected president of the Associated Students for the 2004-05 school year. He also won election to Hartnell's governing board as a student trustee for 2004-05 and took his seat earlier this month.
A graduate of Alvarez High School, Luna plans to continue his education at a four-year college or university after graduation from Hartnell. He wants to pursue a career in real estate development.
Before coming to Hartnell, he was a sales representative of My BMW Porsche of Seaside and a staff member of State Sen. Bruce McPherson (R-Santa Cruz).
In his two new positions, Luna says he wants to improve communication between the administration, students and staff. He also is eager to "create a more organized, more efficient, more active Student Government on campus."
In addition, Luna says he will focus on community partnerships and mentoring-type programs with local leaders. "By developing these types of programs and building off some that already exist," he says, "students will have the opportunity to develop local networking relationships and learn from the vast experiences that our community has to offer."
