Hartnell College Preschool Open to Local Families

July 13th, 2004

Hartnell College's Child Development Centers are still accepting applications for enrollment of preschool children. The program for the 2006-07 school year is free to income-eligible families.

Families do not have to be Hartnell students, according to Linda Taylor, child development program director. She said the five-day-a-week program offers a choice of a morning session from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or an afternoon session from 1-4 p.m.

"Our bilingual, college-educated and credentialed teaching staff implement a curriculum which follows the California State Department of Education Pre-Kindergarten Learning and Development Guidelines," Taylor said.

"Children are guided to develop confidence, independence, curiosity, motivation, and the ability to communicate and connect with others," she said.

Both the main campus program (411 Central Ave., Salinas) and the east campus program (1752 E. Alisal St., Salinas) are accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children.

Children must be at least three years old on or before Dec. 2, 2006 to enroll in the program. When applying, parents should bring the child's birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of the family's most recent month's income.
