Three program directors and five faculty members are joining the Hartnell College staff this fall.
The new directors are:
Maria Ayon, director of student outreach. She formerly worked in the areas of student outreach and recruitment at California State University, Northridge.
Debra Denham, director of nursing. A former nursing instructor at Hartnell, Denham has also taught nursing at Evergreen Valley Community College, San Jose, and was director of education at South Valley Hospital, San Jose.
Kathleen Schrader, director of the Regional Health Occupational Resource Center located at Hartnell. She was formerly a faculty member at National University, La Jolla, Calif., and the University of Phoenix, San Diego, and also was a clinical researcher for Sharp Health Care, San Diego.
The new nursing instructors are:
Tomas Belnas, who will teach medical surgical nursing, formerly was a Registered Nurse (RN) at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland and Vallejo.
Suzanne Bañuelos, a new medical surgical nursing faculty member, is a former RN at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and education coordinator of the Carlsbad (N.M.) Medical Center.
Linda Hoogendijk, a new Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) instructor, formerly taught nursing at Spokane (Wash.) Community College and was a staff nurse at the Sacred Heart Medical Center, also in Spokane.
Laurie Phillips, who will teach medical surgical nursing, is a former nursing instructor at Evergreen Valley Community College, San Jose.
Diane Salamone, a new psychiatric nursing instructor, practiced nursing at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula Hospital and also taught at Cabrillo College.
