When: Tuesday, August 9, 2005, noon
Where: Monterey County Training Center (Building 840 on the old Natividad Medical Center campus in Salinas)
Why: To announce a new joint admissions agreement between Hartnell College and Suffolk University, a comprehensive private university in Boston, Mass., that offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 70 areas of study. Hartnell President Edward J. Valeau will sign the agreement at the news conference. Representing Suffolk will be Marguerite Dennis, vice president of enrollment and international programs. She also is author of six books on higher education.
Directions to Monterey County Training Center: From Natividad Road, turn east on Chaparral Street (as if you were going to the Sheriff's Office). Turn right onto the street at the bottom of the hill. To your left will be a large parking lot which sits below street level. You may park in any undesignated space in that lot (parking elsewhere requires a county parking permit). At the southeast corner of the parking lot is a staircase leading up a hill. Take the staircase to the top and follow the sidewalk up the hill and slightly to the left (between the two buildings). Building 840 will be to the left as you cross a small service road.
For more information, call Cicely McCreight, Hartnell's director of institutional advancement, (831) 755-6810.
