The Santa Lucia Medical Foundation has awarded a $750 scholarship to Angelica Martinez, a recent Hartnell College graduate who will continue her studies this fall at California State University, Fresno.
Martinez of Salinas received her A.A. degree from Hartnell in May. She accumulated a 3.5 grade point average (GPA), and was a participant in Hartnell's 2002 Boronda International Study Program in which she studied the arts and culture of the West African country of Ghana.
Off campus, Martinez has been a flutist with the Watsonville Band, a community group. She plans to major in physical therapy at Fresno State.
The Santa Lucia Medical Group is a family practice. The scholarship was awarded on the basis of academic promise, financial need and grade point average (3.0 or above).
