"Closely Composed," an "up close" photographic exhibit of flowers and nature by Irving Stuart of Carmel Valley, will open at Hartnell College on Monday, Sept. 8.
The show runs through Oct. 2, and will be presented in the Seminar Gallery of the Visual Arts Building, which has an entrance on Alisal Street.
"Closely Composed" is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Stuart will discuss his exhibit at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the gallery.
A retired psychology instructor from Hunter College in New York City, Stuart is an avid art collector and a longtime photographer of landscapes and nature subjects.
A few years ago he donated five rare 17th and 18th century Chinese scrolls to the Hartnell College Foundation. Presented to the foundation in memory of his wife, Helen, the scrolls have become part of the college's permanent art collection.
