SALINAS, Calif. - On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 Hartnell College will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. The program will take place at Steinbeck Hall in the Student Center located at 411 Central Avenue in Salinas, CA. This event is open to the public.
Hartnell College remembers the 2,973 lives lost 12 years ago during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. This is a day of remembrance, reflection, and learning for the college and the surrounding community.
The program will start with Hartnell College student, David Carrasco singing the National Anthem, and will include remarks by these special guests:
- Hartnell Superintendent/President, Dr. Willard Lewallen
- Mayor of Salinas, Joe Gunter
- Salinas Police and Fire Departments
- Assemblymember Luis Alejo’s Office, Laura Cabrera
- Student Veterans:
- Ryan Estes - Army
- Maria Schlotthauer - Navy
- Josh McAtee - U.S. Coast Guard
