Enrollment at Hartnell College this fall is 15 percent higher than last year, according to Mary Dominguez, director of enrollment services.
"As of last week," she said, "there are 10,282 students enrolled. Normally our enrollment increases about two to four percent a year."
She said enrollment at the college's new King City Education Center is even higher. "Some 723 students are taking classes there this fall compared to 420 last year. That's an increase of about 72 percent," she said.
She explained that the King City facility is offering about three times as many day, evening and Saturday classes this fall as the college's previous King City facility did last year.
Commenting on the overall enrollment increase at Hartnell, College President Edward Valeau said, "It is gratifying to know the residents of the Salinas Valley rely upon Hartnell to provide them with educational opportunities for professional and personal growth."
