The children of the Salinas community are in for a treat again this year on Halloween - Friday, Oct. 31.
The Associated Students of Hartnell College are sponsoring the third annual "Halloween Spooktacular" with activities, snacks and contests for children ages 2-16.
The party is free and will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. in Steinbeck Hall of the Hartnell College Center. An adult must accompany children under the age of 10.
There will be a coloring contest, a dance contest and a costume contest, according to Irene Rasmussen, Hartnell's activities coordinator. "There also will be free snacks and several different games for the goblins out on Halloween night. We want to provide a safe place for children to collect treats and to have lots of fun."
In addition, Spooktacular will feature booths for face painting, puppet and mask making, and pumpkin decorating with free pumpkins for the first 100 children.
"A booth, sponsored by the MESA and ACCESS clubs, will teach youngsters the secret recipe to make 'slime,'" Rasmussen said.
Parents are welcome to attend with their children. For more information, call Irene Rassmussen at 831-755-6825.
