"Legends," a student/faculty dance recital, will be presented at Hartnell College on Sunday, Nov. 5, and Monday, Nov. 6.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. on both nights in the main theater of the Performing Arts Facility. Admission is free.
The hour-long performance will include choreography by some of Hartnell's dance students, according to Megan Morais, Hartnell dance instructor. The concert's title, "Legends," takes it name from the title of Japanese American Lawson Fusao Inada's book, Legends from the Camps, in which he discusses his experiences in an internment camps during World War II, said Morais. Inada is Hartnell's 2005-06 Steinbeck Chair and considered by many as the poet laureate of Japanese America. Hartnell dancers have been exploring his works and some have created their own "legends" - in dance.
