Hartnell College Alumna Receives Emmy Award

October 26th, 2004

Bonnie Phillips, a Hartnell College alumna, recently won an Emmy Award for live news coverage of the San Diego wildfires last October.

Currently an executive producer at KFMB-TV in San Diego, Phillips was involved with coverage the first night and day of the fires.

A 1997 Hartnell graduate, she was editor of the Panther Sentinel, the campus' student newspaper, and worked at KION/KCBA-TV in Salinas through the college's internship program.

After Hartnell, Phillips received her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from San Jose State University.

Emmy Awards acknowledge excellence in broadcasting and are presented by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
