The Hartnell College Board of Trustees and the college's Bond Oversight Committee are seeking candidates for one vacant position on the committee, which is a community-based group that oversees expenditures regarding the $131 million Measure H bond that was passed by Salinas Valley voters in 2002.
The construction bond measure is funding several improvements on the 85-year-old campus.
"The Bond Oversight Committee ensures that no funds are used for any teacher or administrative salaries or other school operating expenses," explained Hartnell President Edward J. Valeau.
Candidates for the vacant position must meet the following criteria, according to the California Education Code 15282 (a) (3): "a member shall be active in a bona fide taxpayers' organization."
Applications for the position may be made by submitting a letter outlining qualifications to the Office of the President, Hartnell College, 411 Central Ave., Salinas, CA 93901, before Nov. 7, 2005.
Applications will be reviewed by members of the Bond Oversight Committee and referred to the Board of Trustees for appointment. Further information is available by contacting the president's office at Hartnell College, (831) 755-6900.
