International Community Dinners Offered at Hartnell College
Hartnell Student Club Holds Business Exposition

Hartnell College’s award-winning Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Club is holding its Third Annual Business Exposition during the first week of November. To better serve the community, this free event will be held in several locations and at several times throughout Salinas Valley. These workshops are valuable for any employer, employee, or community member interested in improving job and business skills.

Hartnell’s students will offer free business and career seminars and workshops at two locations in Salinas: the Las Casas de Madera Co-operative and the Salinas Adult School, and at the Santa Elena Co-operative in Soledad.

At Las Casas de Madera co-operative, 510 E. Market Street, seminars and presentations will be conducted in English with concurrent Spanish translation. Presentations begin at 7 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, November 4-6. Topics include: How to manage credit scores; Job success skills; Budgeting; Starting a business; Financial aid for college; and Resume and interview techniques.  Free pizza and water on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited, but free parking is available on East Market and North Madeira Avenue (Parking lots for residents only).

On Saturday, November 7 the SIFE seminars and workshops will move to the Salinas Adult School, 20 Sherwood Place, presented in English.  The events will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. with an hour’s break at noon.  Free pizza and water is available in limited quantities during the lunch break.  Topics include: Job success skills; Budgeting; Computer skills; Starting a business; Small business resource management; Computer and Internet security; Identity theft; How to manage credit scores; and Resume and interview techniques. Parking is free.

Hartnell SIFE also will host two English and Spanish workshops at the Santa Elena cooperative in Soledad: Starting a small business and Budgeting. Contact SIFE members below for exact days and times.

Hartnell’s SIFE Club has won the regional championship for three years in a row and is currently ranked in the top 19 for all two-year colleges in the SIFE National program.  There are approximately 1,800 participating colleges.
