Celebrated Conductor and Operatic Bass Give Sunday Recital at Hartnell

Salinas, Nov.1--The public is invited to a vocal recital at Hartnell College featuring operatic bass James Grainger and conductor and pianist Nicoletta Conti at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5.

The recital will feature opera arias and French and Italian songs from Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Duparc, and Tosti, as well as Broadway selections from Rodgers & Hammerstein and Jerome Kern.

Mr. Grainger has performed in concert and operas throughout Europe. He was one of four featured vocalists in Monterey last June when the Monterey Opera presented the program, “The World’s Most Famous Opera Arias III” on the Golden State Theatre stage. Ms. Conti is an internationally renowned conductor based in her hometown of Bologna, Italy. She has studied conducting with Maestro Franco Ferrara, Leopold Hager, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, and Kurt Masur, and has earned numerous accolades for her work, including the prestigious Minerva Prize for the Arts.

There is no charge for admission to this event to be held in the Recital Hall (Room 125) of the Performing Arts Facility on Hartnell’s Main Campus at 411 Central Avenue in Salinas.
