Please join the Associated Students of Hartnell College, Hartnell’s International and Intercultural Education Committee, and the Cultural Funding Committee of Hartnell College for Worldfest ’06, a celebration in honor of International Education Week.
The "meet the world at Hartnell" celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, in Steinbeck Hall on Hartnell’s main campus in Salinas from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The three-hour festival features crafts, exhibits, music, dance, and food from many lands. This event is free and open to the public.
Festival-goers can learn about Hartnell’s international education program, the global studies program at CSUMB, and the study abroad program at UC Santa Cruz; admire handicrafts from Iran; purchase Pachamama Fair Trade products; and enjoy spirited musical and dance performances representing the cultures of many regions. Hartnell student clubs, the American Red Cross, and Solar Cookers also will be exhibiting.
To plan your visit, the schedule of performances is:
12:00—The Rhythmagics, Afro-Cuban Rhythms
1:00—Abdoulaye Diallo, West African Drums
1:30—Mestre Papiba, Brazilian Capoeira.
International Education Week, November 13-17, is a joint program of the U.S Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. In its seventh year, the week provides an opportunity for schools and community organizations to recognize and encourage international educational exchange. Hartnell College’s Worldfest ’06 program is one of many across the world to be listed on the official International Education Week’s website: http://iew.state.gov.
