Groundbreaking Set for New Partnership to Provide Low-Income Housing
November 24th, 2004
When: Monday, Nov. 29, 3 p.m.
Where: 1052 Acosta St., Salinas
Hartnell College, the City of Salinas, and the Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association (CHISPA), a non-profit housing corporation based in the Salinas Valley, have formed a partnership to provide a home that is affordable to a local low-income family. Through the use of a federal grant designated for housing, the City of Salinas and CHISPA are making a lot available for the two-bedroom home, which will be constructed by students enrolled in Hartnell's building technology program. Once the home is completed, it will be sold to an eligible low-income family.
For more information, contact Jose Luis Fernandez, Hartnell's dean of occupational education, at (831) 755-6960.
