Hartnell College Dance Recital to Focus on 'Cosmos to Chaos'

November 29, 2003

Fifty Hartnell College dance students will present a recital titled 'Cosmos to Chaos' on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 9 and 10, on the main stage of the Performing Arts Building.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, the recital will feature several forms of dance - ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop.

Commenting on the recital's title, dance instructor Megan Morais says "there are no limits to our cosmos or chaos. They can happen simultaneously. Each can lead to the other."

Morais herself choreographed three of the recital's numbers. Several pieces have been choreographed by students.

Guest artists include the college's cheerleaders and Purged by Fire, a dance group from the Assembly of God, Northside, directed by Sophia Nazario-Benavidez.

Daniel Garcia, a former Hartnell dance student, choreographed the program's finale titled "Heaven and Hell." Since leaving Hartnell, Garcia has choreographed music videos and a recent tour of rhythm and blues singer De 'Sha.
