Hartnell College Staff Organizes Books of Love

November 30th, 2007

The Hartnell College chapter of the California School Employees Association is collecting new and gently used books for children of all ages in English or Spanish for its annual holiday fundraiser.

The fundraiser, Books of Love, will distribute the collected books to the Department of Social Services for parents to bring as gifts to their children during scheduled visits.

“Our hope is that the parents will be able to read these books to their children and then leave the books as gifts,” said association president Margie Wiebusch. The fundraiser will help develop a love of reading in children served and an opportunity for children and parents to share special time together.

Books or money to purchase books may be dropped off before December 15 in room 281 of the College Center or in the Academic Learning Center at Hartnell’s main campus in Salinas.

Last year’s CSEA holiday fundraiser was called Blankets of Love, and provided blankets for children in foster care. For more information, please contact Wiebusch at 831-755-6923.
