Starting in 2000 the college started to develop a series of data collection tools to help us collect, identify, and analyze data to support the operation of the college and the success of our students. This page is a collection of tools and efforts towards that end.
Virtual Fact Book
This is basic college wide data. Choose the report that you want to see (you can select all or any number of reports you want), the number of years you want data about, and the location you are interested in and push run. When the report is displayed you need to use the page down button to navagate from one report to the next.
Over the last year we are working to implement COGNOS (a business intelligence tool) that allows faculty and staff access to information about the students. On the COGNOS pages you will find the tools that are available.
Title V Research Tools
The Title V Research Tools were developed using a Title V grant to look at Student Success. There are 4 tools: Persistence and Success, Cohort Success Analysis over Time, Persistence and Success for C Students, and Cohort of First Time College Students’ Success Analysis.
Hartnell College's EIS
The Executive Information System (EIS) is the first tool developed for accessing information about Hartnell College students and other areas. The information is summarized in Excel tables and graphs.
CCC Chancellor's Data Mart
The data mart provides information about students, courses, student services, outcomes and faculty and staff. The emphasis of a data mart is to answer the questions of administrators, educators, parents, students, state leaders, and professional organizations.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences. The purpose of the National Center for Education Statistics' website is to provide clear, complete information about NCES' mission and activities, and to serve the research, education and other interested communities.
IPEDS is the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. It is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). IPEDS gathers information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires that institutions that participate in federal student aid programs report data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. These data are made available to students and parents through the College Navigator college search Web site and to researchers and others through the IPEDS Data Center.
