Interpreting and Captioning
DSP&S strives to provide high quality Sign Language interpreting, as well as captioning services, for Hartnell's Deaf and hard-of-hearing student community. Every reasonable effort will be made to assign an interpreter with your preferred mode of communication, yet there are often variations in interpreting styles, requirements and availability.
We welcome new students!
If you are new to Hartnell, welcome! Please see our First Steps page, and visit our office in the CALL building, room 107, to make an appointment with a DSP&S counselor. Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to request interpreting services during the process of applying for admissions, financial aid, or taking the STAAR placement test.
DSP&S is happy to provide support as you continue working toward your academic and personal goals. To ensure that your interpreting or captioning needs are met, be proactive by enrolling in classes during priority registration and submitting your requests as early as possible. We encourage you to meet with your counselor to discuss choices and update your educational plan. If you have any questions about the Policies and Procedures for interpreting or captioning services, you may contact our Lead Interpreter via Email at HCinterpreting@gmail.com.
Interpreter applicants, please submit a one page letter of interest, a resume and 3 current references for serious consideration. These 3 pdf files should be submitted via email to email@example.com (preferred).
