Hartnell College offers supportive services and instruction for students with physical, visual, hearing, learning, acquired brain injury, developmental, and other disabilities through the Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S) Program. Services and instruction are designed to enable students to successfully develop and complete an educational plan. Services include: academic and vocational counseling, educational planning, special equipment, note-takers, student club, translating/interpreting in sign language, assessment for learning disability, classroom accommodations, and job placement. Instruction includes: college survival skills, learning disability remediation, adaptive computer technology, adaptive physical education, job readiness skills, and vocational assessment.
The Disabled Students Program is located in the fully accessible College Center, Room 102, and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. Students may write, drop by the office, or phone (831) 755-6760, 770-6199 (TDD) for further information.
Hartnell College has many facilities available for use by students with disabilities. Hartnell College is committed to removing all architectural barriers on campus to accommodate those students with wheelchairs or who are otherwise physically challenged.
Buildings are equipped with ramps for easy access. Merrill Hall and the Classroom-Administration Buildings are equipped with elevators. Most buildings have specially equipped restrooms. The theatre has a viewing area for persons with wheelchairs.
