Medical care in the United States is very expensive. There is not a medical plan or health care service in our country. Most Americans purchase health insurance policies to help with the cost of health care. If you are not covered by medical insurance from your country while you study at Hartnell College, you will be required to enroll in an insurance plan.
The health insurance policies do not include dental services or eyeglasses. The only time these services are covered is when an injury to the eye or teeth has occured as the result of an accident. Normal eye examinations for prescription changes, eyeglasses the filling of dental cavities and other related medical procedures do not fall in this category.
If you wear eyeglasses or contacts, have your eyes examined and bring and extra pair of glasses or contacts with you. Also bring your prescription so that you can avoid the expense of an eye exam should your eyeglasses or contacts need to be replaced.
